Park: Wall Doxey State Park
Palmetto State Park in Ottine Texas. This is one of the nices state parks I have been to. The tent pads are well kept, the bathrooms are kept up in a timely fashion. It is quiet and relaxing with the San Marcos River running between the park camp grounds. The canopy is perfect that it is thick enough to keep you cool in the summer and it blocks out the excessive winds in the winter. If you are a tuber it is in a great location to travel to San Marcos, Texas to enjoy the slow relaxing pace of the San Marcos River or close enought to New Braunfels to enjoy the faster pace of the Comal River. Or even travel up to Wimberly at dark 30 and catch a movie under the stars at the Corral Theater. Palmetto also has the nices friendliest park staff I have ever worked with!

Park: Hugh White State Park
1) Even in the hot Texas summer heat, the campgrounds are pleasant under the canopy shade of the pine trees. 2) The grounds are always clean and manicured. 3) Beautiful, private, uncrowded small lake/large pond. No power boats are allowed, so it is always peaceful. There is a fun diving platform in the middle that you can swim out to - very popular with families - even teens! 4) The park is located about 90 minutes from the Louisiana border (Bossier City/Shreveport). If you don't have the kiddoes along, it is fun to drive there and spend the day playing in the casinos. Nice combination of wilderness and big city fun! 5) The park has a huge "cabin" that will accommodate 20 people, hidden from view, with its own parking lot, bath facilities, kitchen, patio, bbq grills and path to the water. Very reasonable rates too! OH NO!!! Now Everyone will go there! (Never mind!)
