Where you don’t have to choose between ‘civilization’ and ‘nature’.
The Setting
Bayou Segnette State Park (Westwego) provides a “best of both worlds” experience in more ways than one. It’s location – 20 minutes from downtown New Orleans – allows visitors to switch between enjoying the great outdoors to enjoying fine dining and sightseeing in a matter of moments.
Both salt and freshwater fishing are available because of the park's unique location. From the boat launch, you can linger in the bayou for freshwater catches or venture further south and explore many saltwater fishing areas not readily accessible by overland routes. Catches of bass, catfish, bream, perch, redfish and trout are common in the area.
Whether your day’s highlights have included city or nature, you can sleep peacefully in the campground tucked away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Campers also have access to a swimming pool, and all visitors can enjoy the wave pool, open from Memorial Day through the beginning of August.
