The Setting
Set along the shoreline of the 10,000 acre Barren River Lake, the park is located within 30 minutes of Bowling Green KY and 20 minutes from Glasgow KY. The campground rests among the woodlands of mature oak, walnut, maple and sweetgum trees.
The Facility
The campground features 99 developed sites with 30 amp electric hookup and water hookup. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. There are two bathhouses with restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. Two dump stations, a playground, half court basketball court, sand volleyball court and boat launch ramp are available within the campground. A full-service marina, offering rental boats is located within a mile of the campground.
Barren River Lake State Resort Park also has a 51-room lodge along with 22 cottages; meeting rooms, The Driftwood Restaurant, gift shop, 18-hole golf course, beach, 2.5-mile paved walking trail, nature trails, horseback riding concession, two tennis courts and four playgrounds. There are also various shelters to rent for your outings.
Camping Tips
The park offers recreational programming from Memorial Day through Labor Day along with special events such as Spookout and Campers Appreciation. Firewood is available at the campground booth and a convenience store located near the park entrance is open to pick up any forgotten items.
Park Features
Barren River Lake State Resort Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including white tail deer, wild turkey, squirrels, rabbits, ground hogs, raccoons and skunks. Each season presents a variety of wildflowers along the trails and a variety of songbirds as well as migratory birds such as the sandhill cranes and bald eagles.
